AEROBICS ATTONES FOR HER RUDE AWAKENING
Anyone remember Aerobics? The Muscles Yankee filly inadvertently inseminated at The Meadowlands some years ago as a result of horses getting loose after a power failure.

At the time, Aerobics was in Ron Gurfein’s barn. Unfortunately the offending culprit was not one of Gurfein’s impeccably bred colt trotting prospects but rather a claiming pacer named DO NOT DISTURB a Bill Popfinger trainee stalled in the same barn. Of course nobody noticed this liaison until months later when Aerobic’s delicate condition became obvious to the naked eye

Aerobic’s was eventually transferred to Chuck Sylvester for whom she won The Hanover filly stake in 1;59.3 and earned $21,000+.

After Lexington Chuck sent her home for turnout in lieu of returning the next year but by Harrisburg time it was obvious nature had other ideas.

That Spring Aerobics blessed us with a colt named Rude Awakening who like his father paced. Rude Awakening actually won a Topline stake in 2:02.3h at two.

The mare was then of course conventionally bred to trotters like Enjoy Lavec and Dream Vacation resulting in respectable fillies like Endorpahn Annie 3,1:56.4 and Aerobic Linda 3,1:58.4f both of whom are still racing and winning at Eastern tracks.

She was then switched to Windsong’s Legacy resulting in a colt with an unpronounceable name-due to a typographical error by none other than yours truly, That colt sold for $10,000 at Harrisburg last year. The purchaser was none other than Mr. Chuck Sylvester familiar with Aerobic’s checkered past. Thus the colt with an indecipherable name got officially dubbed Lucky Chucky and like Paul Harvey says, “you now know the rest of the story”

SOME WINDSONG LEGACIES
Valley Victory winner LUCKY CHUCKY (Aerobics) is far from the ONLY Windsong’s Legacy winning major stakes races these days.

At Yonkers, WINDSONG SOPRANO (Muscling In) followed Delvin Miller tally with a handy win in the Hudson Filly trot… SOUTHWIND WASABI (Winkys Star) wound up winning the Review at Springfield, the American National at Balmoral before her courageous near miss to Highscore Kemp in the 51.4 World Trotting Derby…

At Mohawk last Saturday, BIG BIKKIES (Sheza Hot Cookie) easily took the faster division of the Simcoe while at Freehold VESUVIO AS(Rimini As) annexed the $100,000 New Jersey sires stakes final.

Previously it was a Windsong sweep of the Delvin Miller memorial at The Meadowlands as WINDSONG SOPRANO (Muscling In) and YURSA HANOVER (Yankee Topaz) annexed both divisions.

The final full crop of Windsong’s Legacy yearlings will sell this fall including WINDIGNANT, (Muscling In) the full brother to Windsong Soprano and WINCANDESCENT (Graceful Touch) the first and only Windsong’s Legacy sister to champion Muscle Mass.

MORE McARDLE MOMENTS
Almost without fanfare McArdle is impacting the current scene in a rather substantial way.

His 2-year-old son ONE MORE LAUGH from his first Pennsylvania sired crop might just be the best “keystone” sired colt in the slots fueled state. At last look the McArdle –Funny Creek youngster won a Pennsylvania sire in 1:52f. One More Laugh gets his chance against the Grand Circuit colts in The Governors Cup at Chester.

McArdle has several exceptional 3-year old fillies this year in Geers winner McGIBSON (Armbro Althea), Shady Daisy winner DINGLE BAY (Nantucket Beach), New Jersey Sires champion SCARLET McZARA ( Zara) and the blossoming McFLIRTY (Face The Table), a multiple winner in Pennsylvania and New Jersey thus far..

One of his colts NOB HILLS HIGH (Anniecrombie) won the Hayes Memorial at Du Quoin in 52.4 after some noticeable near misses while son SALAZAR (January Spur) has now won three consecutive New Jersey sires stakes at Freehold.

A strong selection of Pennsylvania sired McArdle colts and fillies will be featured in all our yearling consignments this fall.

THE GREAT DELUSION
Let me get this straight. Atlantic City is “poised to become a “ true world class destination resort” as reported in a casino slanted op-ed piece in the Asbury Park Press.

Well yeah.... What’s taking so long? . After all, it’s not like Atlantic City just happened. Casinos have been in Atlantic City since the late 70’s and while the Hotels themselves may indeed be opulent structures, the overall appearance of the “city” hasn’t changed that much. The blight is still there. It’s hard to REACH especially in summer with all the Shore traffic clogging up the Garden State Parkway. Moreover, the traditional population supply source from The Philadelphia-Wilmington region is being eroded by the Racinos and full-fledged Casinos on the Western side of the Delaware.

Right now there’s probably too many existing hotels in “greater” Atlantic City. The obvious solution would be to relocate one or two to the prime megalopolis region in the Northern part of the Garden State that just happen to be at the doorstep of New York City and is now serviceable by direct rail service from all the major northern counties including midtown Manhattan.

Yet the argument is advanced that location of Casino gaming at The Meadowlands would somehow prevent Atlantic City from achieving its ultimate destiny as a true world-class casino resort. A status they have not even remotely approached in over 30-years as a gaming destination.

RESTLESS NATIVES
It’s signature day at a harness track on a national holiday no less but the natives were rather restless.

Seems a couple of other harness tracks were also having “signature” days that the local brethren were desirous of participating in.

Unfortunately the airwaves at THIS harness track were so cluttered by thoroughbred signals, it was impossible for the locals to watch MAJOR harness events like the Conway Hall from Vernon and the Beckwith & Bergstein Memorials at Plainridge both happening the same afternoon.

The natives grumbled!

Nobody did anything!

And we wonder where this harness handle has gone….
