Miss Scarlett (Red River Hanover-Odds On JP) perhaps the most impressive of the Red River Hanover first croppers to appear thus far was indeed a charter member of our first ever consignment to the LEXINGTON SELECTED SALE at Fasig Tipton last year.

This year’s Lexington crop should be every bit as good and will feature a number of FIRST CROP trotting prospects by Triple Crown champion Windsong’s Legacy and the brilliant Franco-American REVENUE. One Revenue worth remembering could be QUEEN THIRTEEN, the first ever Revenue sister to $3milion plus winner SCARLET KNIGHT.

McARDLE IS EVERYWHERE
Like his globetrotting namesake, an abundance of McArdles are visible at all points on the pacing globe including many of our sales alumni..

McARTS N CRAFTS (Jardin Des Arts) a noticeable fast closing third in the $175,000 New Jersey Sires Stakes final was sold at last year’s NEW JERSEY CLASSIC. So too was the impressive McARDLES CHARM (Eternal Sweetheart) a New Jersey Sires Stakes winner in 1:54.1.

Over the years we’ve sold many good ones at The New Jersey Classic venue including MALTESE ARTIST who’s probably well over $1million in earnings by now..

And while we’re at it, we should mention that not all of our HARRISBURG yearlings bring such staggering prices. The great GEORGE TEAGUE plucked ARTCOTIC (Artiscape-Pumped) from our 05 Harrisburg consignment for all of $5,000. Last year crafty Carl Jamieson nabbed the impressive NEAL DIAMONIQUE (Real Desire-Diamonique Mindale) for all of $10,000.

IS ANYBODY WATCHING?
Just curious if in this mass information age whether someone is actually recording the betting and handle figures at the various racetracks- especially the racinos and whether or not it actually matters just when feature races go off.

For arguments sake, a pair of Sullivan Memorial eliminations featuring a number celebrity trotters went off somewhere between 2:30 and 4PM on Monday at Monticello.

Commensurately somewhat southwest that same day a number Reynolds Memorials for freshman pacing fillies and sophomore trotting colts were carded at Pocono between the hours of 2PM and 6ish or so…

At 3:30 that same afternoon, Chester reopened for it’s 2nd season. While there were no major stake races, there were some pretty fine divisions of the Dana Irving sprinkled throughout. Their Thursday card features three Valley Forge divisions for the 3-year-old pacing fillies including divisional leader Southwind Tempo who started in the vicinity of 6:30PM.

On Sunday superstars LIS MARA and ARTISTIC FELLA headline the BEN FRANKLIN at Chester approximate off time 5:10PM

A track official was quoted as lamenting the dearth of driver attendance at The Meadowlands Pace Press conference slated for 12 noon on Tuesday but earlier that morning there were qualifiers at Chester and later that same afternoon a full slate of Reynolds Memorials at Pocono starting at 2PM.

Later that same evening there were multiple New York sires stakes divisions at Vernon Downs

Unfortunately Internet video streaming lessens the urgency of actually attending these conferences though nobody’s figured out how to do lunch over the web.


Where are you John Henderson with the Hammond Productions FEATURE RACE VIDEO? It’s almost impossible to keep up with all these features going off at all these times.

Don’t misconstrue! The additional racing opportunities are wonderful whenever they occur though it would be nice to determine just who else might be watching and/or wagering.

After all, most manufacturers generally research who’s actually buying and using the product.

A FIRST
Might be the first time we can remember when the driver of the pacesetter was taken down for keeping a trailer boxed in behind. The official chart calling terminology is for a horse unable to get through is “shut off”.
