STALLION MOVEMENTS
Just to officially verify internet rumblings concerning
the relocation of certain stallions, three of Perretti Farms
mainstays will be in service at other locales effective
the 2006 breeding season and beyond.
Lindwood Farms in Western Pennsylvania home of S J’s
Photo has secured an interest in McArdle thus the Falcon
Seelster-Lilting Laughter standout will stand at Lindwood
Farms upon his return from New Zealand. McArdle’s
fee remains at $6,000 and the future McArdles will of course
have eligibility to the slots fueled Pennsylvania program.
Artiscape and Dream Vacation will move to Winbak Farms
of New York. Artiscape sire of such luminaries as 2004 horse
of the year Rainbow Blue had another stellar performance
season in 2005 with such headliners as Escape The Wind,
Maltese Artist and Rare Jewel winning significant races.
Artiscape’s fee remains at $7,500.
Dream Vacation this year’s first crop trotting leader
with 2:00 2-year-olds will also relocate to Winbak Farms
of New York. On the strength of his impressive debut performance,
Dream Vacation’s fee has been set for $5,000 for the
06 breeding season.
It should be noted that the Dream Vacation colts and fillies
showed considerable versatility in New Jersey Sires Stakes
action of Freehold which should bode well for his future
progeny at half mile track dominated and slots fueled New
York.
ROCKNROLL
HORSE OF THE YEAR
Good friend and long time colleague Ray Brienza writing
in the Newark Star Ledger cast his horse of the year ballot
for Rock N Roll Hanover. After his authoritative Breeders
Crown triumph at The Meadowlands on Saturday one would think
our newest stallion has indeed CLINCHED THOSE HONORS.
When you think about it, Rock N Roll qualified on May 6th,
won the $500,000 New Jersey Classic in May 28th, The $1.5
million North American Cup on June 18th the million dollar
Meadowlands Pace on July 16th and was by far the dominant
colt in the Breeders Crown on November 26th which would
seem to define what a horse of the year season is all about
IT REALLY DID ALL COME DOWN.
This was the year it all really did come down to the Breeders
Crown as several divisional races were indeed clarified.
In addition Mother Nature was in a cooperative mood as temperatures
were moderate and the often bone chilling pre-winter winds
proved almost non-existent which made for a stellar and
equitable night of championship racing.
The joint effort by The Meadowlands and Breeders Crown
people provided for an excellent program and hats off to
the innovator who featured the glossary of past Crown championships
for each event on its own page.
Erv Miller reports that MODERN DESIRE (Real Desire-Wendy
M Hanover) broke well and looks like a prospect.
Great call by Ken Warkentin as Rock N Roll was “pulling
away” nearing the wire.
