YOU DO NEED MUSCLES TO WIN FUTURITIES
STRONG YANKEE (Muscles Yankee- So So Chic) victim of a disputed call in his Canadian Trotting Classic elimination and World Trotting Derby filly queen HER CULESE (Muscles Yankee-Flirty Two) made for a Muscles Yankee sweep in the Kentucky Futurity colt and filly divisions.

In doing so, Strong Yankee established a new standard of 1:51.2 for a third heat winning the race off in decisive fashion. Her Culese meanwhile was up at the wire in the conclusive second heat and was strongest overall in the race off.

We’ll offer TORREOGRAPHY the full brother to Her Culese and this year’s solid stakes 2-year-old Double Player at Harrisburg in November.

LEXINGTON NOTES
Looks like the combination of sales was a good idea given the attendance and excitement of the opening session. Some eye catching prices too.

Gotta wonder what the number actually was to successfully land CONSTANCE HALL given the $375,000 RNA ticket

Don’t know about you but have no problem whatsoever with the RNA concept as horses are commodities and as commodities DO have value. Wouldn’t expect to obtain a LEXUS for a COROLLA level bid.

One thing to keep firmly in mind is that they didn’t just wake up the day after the Tattersalls sale with divine inspiration and decide to disperse at Harrisburg. That had to be meticulously planned significantly in advance and was obviously as clandestine a secret as the identity of Deep Throat.

Ron Luniewski and Dan Zucker of Magna conducted an interesting seminar regarding the prospects of additional Harness Racing coverage on HRTV. The key here is that HRTV is not only channel 10 on your RTN dish but is already included on many Dish Network and Cable TV packages. Which provides us additional outlets to appeal to the unconverted assuming we can get the message across.

Furthering last week’s item about GRAPHIC SCREENS flashing zero minutes to post for what seems like an eternity comes the scenario about being unprepared for the inevitable MURPHYISM. There will be an incident like the Strong Yankee interference in the second Futurity heat and its far better to visually replay while judges deliberate rather than leave an “unofficial” finish screen for what must have been 10 minutes. The captive audience on track have no other choice than to endure but the simulcasters can and will channel surf if left hanging indefinitely.

SALIVE MOVES ON
Frank Salive announcer extraordinaire at Woodbine entertainment all these years will become the new voice of Western Fair Raceway in London, Ontario. Fortunately for us THE VOICE will continue to provide his audio mastery for our yearling videos and on air presentations.

On a personal basis have scripted for many announcers over the years including some prominent voices but never one with the vocal flair of Frank Salive. He provides to a script what another famous FRANK provided to a song lyric.

ECHOLOGICAL PUT DOWN
Yes it’s accurate that potential Harrisburg salestopper HIP # 96 ECHOLOGICAL (Muscles Yankee-Echo Hanover) had to be put down following complications from a splinter like substance he had ingested. He was as impressive a colt as we’ve ever raised and in the words of those potential purchasers who had seen him “ truly a showcase trotting colt”

RACE OF THE YEAR
The Tattersalls Pace shapes up as potentially the race of the year especially if Rock N Roll Hanover, American Ideal, P Forty Seven and Stonebridge Regal wind up in the same division.

More next week
Bob Marks.
