SOME REAL DESIRABLES
O.K. Blair you asked for it.. Here’s a quick look
at some first crop Real Desire’s we’ll be sending
to Harrisburg in November…
First and foremost has to be MODERN DESIRE from Wendy M
Hanover her first foal since Modern Art whose book has just
been declared full and closed… This guys a looker…
Then colt MARLON ROUGE the first foal of Mattmoiselle (Matt’s
Scooter-Lady Hathaway) she a full sister to Matt’s
all time fastest and richest Royal Mattjesty. Then there’s
MATTDULTERY from The Mattican (Matt’s Scooter-Angel
Be Great) p,2,1:57.4 she a sister to last year’s fast
and durable Marchand p, 3,1:51
Other headliners could be POLARIZATION (Cold And Clear)
a half brother to the well remembered Tss Poseidon p,1:48.4,,,
Also ALL DUE RESPECT (Oh Illrespectyou) from a sister to
the Ontario star Ifihadyourluck p,4,1:49.2 ($402,325).
There’s also REAL DEJAVU from Once Again, the full
sister to hot Hanover stallion and double millionaire Dragon
Again. Also DESIFINADIA the first Real Desire from Nadia
Lobell. Noticed that Nadia’s Artiscape son Odds On
Dana p,1:50 has made the free-for-alls in Chicago…
And here’s one for you… Mr. Christoforou…
Got an interesting Artiscape from Astreos’ sister
Special Addition (The Panderosa-Lucky Tune)… Of course
he’s named ARTSTREOS and the mare will go to Artsplace
this year….
Speaking of Artiscapes we’ll offer NARACULESE (Naraculous)
the first full brother to Articulator p,4,1:49.2 who just
qualified and could be set for a big year….
A MUSCULAR HAMBLETONIAN ???
Noticed that a total of 50 Muscles Yankee colts and fillies
have been declared for the Hambletonian later this year.
A total of 27 colts were nominated via the Feb 15th payment
and 23 fillies were nominated to the Oaks. Muscles Yankee
leads all trotting stallions in the Hambletonian nomination
capacity.
Just WHERE was that Beach scene adorning the cover of USHWA’s
2005 yearbook??? Last I looked Palm Trees were not native
to Atlantic City… Mountains either…
REVENUE FILLING
Revenue’s book is starting to fill and those who’ve
yet to return contracts should do so promptly. In addition
to all his other attributes, Revenue could be that long
awaited major supplement to the trotting gene pool on our
side of the ocean… He’s also a sure fire breeder
who gets his mares in foal…
ELSU DID DO
The Falcon Seelster son ELSU swept the final leg of The
Interdominions at Auckland increasing his earnings to slightly
over $2 million. There’s talk Elsu will get an invite
to The Breeders Crown’s aged pace in Canada in September.
Elsu at age 5 would have been conceived when Falcon shuttled
back down under after siring McArdle up here.
Roman Art p,3,1:52.2 our choice Artsplace-Romanticize matron
from the immediate family of Worldly Beauty just delivered
a sensational Western Hanover filly… Roman Art’s
first foal ARTRIVERDERCI by Western Ideal sells at Harrisburg
later this year..
LIKE the NEW location of The NEW JERSEY CLASSIC yearling
sale to The Horse Park of New Jersey.. In case you haven’t
seen it lately, the Horse Park has become a state of the
art facility with ample parking, a sales area and room to
properly showcase yearlings..
Hey Dave Briggs your Canadian Sportsman sentiments about
other things being more screwed up than Harness Racing would
have more conviction if betting were allowed on those “other
things”..
You can always spot a racetrack guy by his mode of egress.
When you gotta make the double.. You don’t linger…
You leave… Like out the door.. In the car. And GO….
Forget statistics the true measurement of a sire is the
ability to move up common mares…
Is it that surprising when bad gaited stallions throw bad
gaited offspring???
Here’s whats in a name… Sold this colt MATTONINETAILS
(Matts Scooter-Lady of The Sea) at the successful South
Florida Sunshine sale and a guy after noting the name sympathetically
taps my shoulder with a condescending “You must have
had a rough childhood”.
Another guy. Insurance maven Lynn Jones to be specific
calls and says “great name”..
Actually Earl Lennox gets an honorable mention for that
one as many years ago on the auction stand at Harrisburg
in between cadences, Earl who was pedigree reading cited
Mattoninetails as a good name for a Matt’s Scooter…
Won’t be at all surprising if Mattoninetails goes
on to amount to something….
Been told PACEY DEUCEY (Cams Card Shark-PAULAS PROMISE)
is a promising prospect for Eddie Hart which is hardly surprising
in that the dam is an Artsplace daughter of the well remembered
Costly Power p,3,1:52.2. Paula’s Promise will consign
a Western Ideal colt named WESTAVERDE to Harrisburg in November.
She’ll also foal a Red River Hanover sometime in April
and is booked to Cams Card Shark thereafter….
Thanks Cal Stiller for sending along that picture of the
McArdle-Reona Hanover colt Real sharp looker and kinda like
what we’ve been getting from the Falcon Seelster-Lilting
Laughter son up here.. Always good to hear when a colt pleases
the discerning eye of Mr. Bart Glass.. A welcome endorsement
indeed..,,
Quik Pulse Mindale has qualified impressively and will
have raced by the time you read this… Picked up his
Artsplace sister Joyeaux last season and she’s booked
to McArdle this year.
Last year’s $350,000 mixed sale topper Mars Bar (Malabar
Man-Piece A Pie will see Muscles Yankee this year…
After she drops her Angus Hall..
For once and for all, is it actually feasible to build
a bigger track at Yonkers??
What if there was a bigger track at Saratoga and some of
those vagabond stakes races got located there during the
Month of August. Could we possibly attract any of those
horsey set hordes already ensconsed at the thoroughbred
mecca across the street?
The downstairs apron at Freehold has to be the warmest
spot in New Jersey on any sunny afternoon.
There can be at least a 10 degree temperature differential
between upstairs and downstairs at The Red Mile on a sunny
day
Said it before but I’d call The Red Mile clubhouse
restaurant THE RED MILESTONE
Congratulations Allen Skolnick.. Artoonist (Artsplace-Vignette
Childer) looked good winning a Jersey Girls event the other
night…. She’ll make a nice broodmare
Never thought Race Time’s “year” was
as strong as the year before which featured Overtrick Meadow
Skipper and Country Don….
Saw Lee Broglio at The Sunshine Sale and as expected his
shirt collar was UP…
Mention Larry Nelson and I think of Murfreesboro, Tennessee
and Mighty Indian
Someone ought to remind the thoroughbred trainer who referred
to bettors as idiots just who pays his salary. Purses still
come from the betting handle last I looked… And if
the handle is “dwindling” could it be even remotely
possible that ANY dwindle is reflected by public perception
of THE PRODUCT….
See ya next week
Bob Marks.
