A NOT SO RUDE AWAKENING
RUDE AWAKENINGS (Do Not Disturb-Aerobics) who will forever
be known as the inadvertent horse around here having been
conceived via a surreptitious barn incident at The Meadowlands
is now 4 for 4 in the win department and is proving a most
pleasant surprise to owner Elmer Lamb. Mr. Lamb acquired
the colt as an unstaked yearling at The Blooded Horse Sale
in Delaware Ohio for $2,000 and might have more than just
a modest racehorse on his hands. Seems the colt can go a
heck of a lot more than the 2:02h he’s been clocked
in at Martinsville Illinois.
We’ll be selling his Enjoy Lavec sister ENDORPHAN
ANNIE at Harrisburg this fall.
NOT JUST MATTIOS
Jimmy Tolson’s wonderful Matt’s Scooter filly
MATTIOS (Armbro Vamoose) is far from the only daughter of
the former world’s fastest harness horse and still
potent stallion to excel this season. There’s also
CC STACY (Down Time) trained by Rob Harmon an impressive
winner of The American National at Balmoral setting a new
track record of 1:52.4 in the process. Got three very nice
Matt’s Scooter fillies bound for The Garden State
Sale at The Horse Park well worthy of attention. Matt’s
Scooter also has a pretty nice colt named Ralph And Richie
an impressive repeat winner at The Meadowlands.
OHIO DREAMS
It was the Dream Vacation filly HEATHERS DREAM winning a
division of the Tomkins Geers at Scioto last week double
Dream Vacation stakes winners WHERLEY (Cnivel) and COLOR
SCHEMES (Paisley Yankee) wound up 2nd and 3rd in the $175,000
New Jersey Sires Stakes final at The Meadowlands. Our consignments
to The New Jersey Horse Park and Harrisburg will feature
a number of quality Dream Vacation colts and fillies including
MY STAR TREKER the three quarter sister to the very major
stakes winner My Starchip still remembered for beating the
boys in the Zweig Memorial at Syracuse.
CLASSIC MUSCLES
Ya need Muscles to win CLASSICS as epitomized by MR MUSCLEMAN
on Saturday in his 8th consecutive fast class victory. What
about HOUSETHATRUTHBUILT??? Took a world record by Peaceful
Way to nail Trond Smedshammer’s MusclesYankee filly
after a long first over duel in 1:51.4
Lost in the furor about this “rebate” business
is that rebates are unlikely to sway anyone into bidding
on a horse they had no intention of bidding on.
Definitely agree with Alan Kirschenbaum’s sentiments
in Nicole Kraft’s EXPOSURE piece in the July Hoofbeats.
One thing that used to bug many a bettor at Roosevelt and
Yonkers was when drivers would speak to each other during
scores and warm ups. It may have been as innocuous as planning
dinner on Sunday but it didn’t look that way from
the grandstand.
To further elaborate the Southfork scenario mentioned by
Commissioner Scotty Tickets in last weeks TROTLINE, there
is probably nothing more frustrating or insulting to a bettor
than to have the right number but be unable to cash because
of a procedural adjustment that may occur after the fact.
It leaves a sour taste and for that reason should not occur.
Moreover, Hopkins was told something like make it more decisive
in the rematch when his appeal for reversal in the Taylor
fight was denied. And in that encounter a middleweight title
changed hands.
Anybody ever stop and think what Dancer Hanover’s
stallion statistics would have been without access to Romola
Hanover? Toss Sweetmite Hanover into that mix also.
MATTJESTY RULES.
Hey Stew Firlotte that was indeed a son of HIS MATTJESTY
named INTENDOS MATTJESTY winning the $88,000 American National
for 2-year-old pacers at Balmoral on Saturday. HIS MATTJESTY
(Matt’s Scooter-Lady Hathway) is the older full brother
to 2006 stallion prospect ROYAL MATTJESTY who’s probably
headed first for NEVELE R STUD in New Zealand this fall.
July Hot Mindale (Jennas Beach Boy-Paris Spur) and XHILARATION
(Western Hanover-Motivation) took divisions of the Countess
Adios last week. Paris Spur is also the dam of Wolfdancer
Mindale and our own Diamonique Mindale dam of the Artiscape
filly AVANT ART bound for Harrisburg in November.
Motivation is also the dam of our own GOOD VIBRATIONS who
will sell a dandy Artiscape colt next year.
