Courtesy of our good friends and colleagues at World Of
Trotters.com got an advance look at the Elitlopp contenders
which revealed that three of the 16 starters are sired by
Coktail Jet who is not unlike our own Revenue given his
French-American genetic heritage.
Like Revenue Coktail Jet has French blood on his sire’s
side though his maternal side is pure American stemming
from the well remembered Cassin Hanover dam of the wonderful
Elma.. Coktail Jet himself had world class trotting ability
though unlike Revenue did not get the opportunity to display
his wares here in this Country.
Coktail Jet goes back to the noted Cassin Hanover on his
dam’s side she responsible for Elma while Revenue
traces directly back to Scotch Love dam of the immortal
Speedy Scot.
FLEXING MUSCLES
It was indeed Mr. Muscleman staging an almost impossible
rally on a rain slicked Meadowlands surface to be up in
the Cutler finale. Heard some scuttlebutt that he could
be invited to the Copenhagen Cup in Denmark.
Noticed that famed Scandinavian correspondent Lars Palm
concurs that Mr. Muscleman’s exclusion from Elitlopp
did take away from the International championship aspect.
Normally when you hear about ROASTED TOM it’s thanksgiving
time but this time Writers Hall of Fame inductee Tom White
got good and roasted in Lexington last night. Congrats pal!
Well deserving.
ARTSCAPE ARTISCAPE
Yeah we know all this Artiscape stuff might be starting
to sound a tad redundant but there in the co-feature at
The Meadowlands are ARTESIAN (Artiscape-Hula Dancer). WHODUNIT
(Artiscape-Nadia Lobell) ART DIRECTOR (Artiscape-Silkys
Gal) and ARTICULATOR (Artiscape-Naraculous) and headlining
the Open feature is MALTESE ARTIST Artiscape-Hula Dancer)
all of whom went through the Perretti Farms yearling consignments
a couple of years ago. And all are members of the 1:50 club
with Whodunit joining that club about two weeks ago. All
this and Rare Jewel (Artiscape-Michelles Jewel) who we didn’t
breed or sell but has reached this level with the others.
RAINBOW BLUE (Artiscape-Vesta Blue Chip) should be back
in the headlines soon having successfully qualified in 1:51at
The Meadowlands on Friday. The 2004 horse is of the year
is bound for the Classic Series at Woodbine. Undoubtedly
Classic bound will be ESCAPE THE WIND still another Artiscape
from Chicole who’s been quite prominent in the Woodbine
Open class lately.
And Stonebridge Kisses (Artiscape-Two In The Morning) captured
still another Mares Open at Woodbine on Friday.. Artsplace’s
#1 son is doing good doncha think!
Notice that some tracks have a policy of uncoupling common
interest ownership entries in instances where the offered
purse exceeds a given ceiling. That’s all well and
good but bettors are acutely aware that stallion values
can be well exceed purse values which won’t diminish
any expediency of working together in order to get the right
one home.
Speaking of uncoupled entries, explain the rationale for
uncoupling two horses from the same stable when the trainer
is part owner of one of them.
It’s DOC HOLLOWAY now.
Hey Joe Holloway guess it’s your turn now. Gonna name
the just foaled Red River Hanover- Doc’s Girl colt
DOC HOLLOWAY. Nice colt too. As is Modern Art’s Real
Desire first crop yearling brother Modern Desire. You’ll
see that one at Harrisburg this fall.
Gotta be impressed with Bret Pelling’s perceptively
cerebral analysis of the differences and similarities between
Western Ideal and Rock N Roll Hanover. One can well appreciate
the time and effort he puts into understanding his horses.
Commissioner Scotty Tickets guaranteed. HIS “discovery”
True Force would wallop co-favorite Mantrix in Saturdays
Windshield Wiper final at Freehold. Considering this is
sent for posting long before post time we’ll monitor
the commissioner’s release. Actually True Force an
11 time winner ALREADY this year is one of our own being
by Falcon Seelster from the Artsplace- Hit Parade mare Kravis
Center. We’ll have a good selection of colts and fillies
from choice Artsplace mares by Falcon Seelster’s leading
son McArdle in our 2006 consignment to Harrisburg.
Then there’s MR MATTURDAY NIGHT the Matt’s
Scooter older brother to True Force who’s emerging
as an Open class fixture at Pompano these past nights.
Shadow Wave. (Adios-Shadow Grattan) sire of Super Wave,
Invincible Shadow, Ingenue etc was still another of those
3-year-olds to beat his elders accomplishing same at Hollywood
Park in 1956 in the American Pacing Classic.
It’s still unfathomable that Adios Butler clocked
a final 8th in 11.2 at the end of a mile and one eighth
pacing classic passing the mile 1:59.4 and hitting the wire
in 2:11.1.
That stretches out to a :22.4 quarter which unless the clock
at Hollywood Park was a bit out of whack has never even
been remotely approached.
NEW JERSEY SIRE STAKES
The New Jersey Sires Stakes for 3-year-old trotters gets
underway with colts going today Memorial Day and the fillies
on Wednesday. Many of the contestants are also Hambletonian
eligibles which brings up a rather fascinating scenario.
Thus far there has not been definitive movement towards
allowing State breds conceived via embryo transort entrée
into New Jersey Sires Stakes races. It’s only a matter
of time before an ET winds up winning The Hambletonian and
it will be more than a trifle disconcerting should a New
Jersey sired Hambletonian champion not to be eligible to
the Sires Stakes.
